Easter

It is Easter. A Christian holiday, celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ. So why do we celebrate with the Easter Bunny and Eggs? Lets find out:

- It is said that Christians would give eggs to each other on Easter as a celebration of new life. We now a days use chicken eggs, but the first eggs given where robins eggs. People would dye them different colors so that it seemed more like a gift.

- From the pagans, Rabbits and eggs are both symbols of the fertility goddess Eostre. Her symbol is also the moon, in which some cultures see a rabbit instead of a face. There is a legend about the goddess Eostre, in which she came upon a dying bird. To save its life, she turned it into a rabbit. It lived but continued to lay eggs. In gratitude for its life, the rabbit gives her some of the eggs every year.

- We search for eggs not only because it is fun, but because it represents the search for new life.

So have wonderful Easter everyone!
