World Cancer Day

Almost everyone knows someone who is battling cancer, has survived cancer, or has lost their battle to cancer. Today is a day that is dedicated to raise the awareness of cancer and to emphasize the prevention, detection, and treatment of cancer.

So lets find out a little bit more about cancer.

- There are many different forms of cancer. There is lung, bone, colon, kidney, prostate, brain, breast, cervical, oral, head, neck cancer, along with many more.

- Smoking causes an estimated 90% of lung cancer

- An estimated 5 to 10% of cancers are hereditary

- 1 in 8 deaths in the world are due to cancer

-The most commonly diagnosed cancers in Men are lung, prostate, and stomach. Womens most commonly diagnosed cancers are breast, cervix, and colorectal.

- Skin cancer is the most common form of cancer in the US, with over 2 million cases diagnosed each year.

- There are 28 million cancer survivors world wide.
