Hairstylist Appreciation Day

We all get our hair cut at some point or another. When we are young it might be a haircut from our mom, but usually by the time we are adults we are going to a professional hairstylist. So today is the day to thank the people who make our hair look great!

When I was younger I hardly ever went to get my hair cut. My hair was down to my hips and I went to get it trimmed maybe once a year. When I got older and wanted a change I just went to the local hair place that I saw in my town to get it trimmed. I wasn't really sure what I was looking for and tried to explain to the woman the general direction I wanted it to go. She sort of got it. It didn't look like what I was thinking, but it didn't look horrible. Then a little over a year ago my friend recommended me to Jennifer (my current hairstylist). I went in and showed her a few photos and said I didn't know which would look the best on me. She then modified the hairstyle a little to make it perfect with my face type. It looked great! I have been going to her ever since.

Happy Hairstylist Day!

Zipper Day

Zippers are considered to be a modern day invention. They were invented in 1913 by a Swedish American inventor by the name of Gideon Sundback. Although there were a few zippers out before the one that Sundback made, none of them actually worked. Before the zipper most clothing would have buttons or eye hooks on them instead.

So lets learn more about the zipper:

- 90% of all zippers now a days are manufactured by one company, YKK, a Japanese manufacturing company.

- The biggest competitor to zippers is Velcro which was invented in 1948.

- Over 1,700 people (mostly men) go to the ER every year for zipper related injuries.

- There are over 1.5 billion zippers produced in one year.

- The largest manufacture of zippers is located at the National Manufacturing Center in Macon, Georgia.

So there are your fun facts about Zippers!

Emotional Overeating Awareness Day

Weight Watchers really hit the nail on the head earlier this year when they came out with their latest commercial. It is the kids song "If your happy and you know it" but it switches the words to have to do with our emotions and eating. For example, "If your happy and you know it, eat a snack" "If your sad and you know it, eat a snack". It is actually really cute, and extremely accurate.

If you are an over eater (like myself), it usually has more to do with our emotions rather than actually being hungry. Think about it. You just won an award or go to a party. What do we do? Usually we eat cake, ice cream, or some big fancy dinner. Now lets flip that. You have to go to a funeral. What do we do? We eat food and celebrate the life of that person. Lets say that you are bored and sitting around the house. What is the first thing we tend to do? You got it! We eat food!

We are programmed as kids to eat food for our emotions. It is a never ending battle that is much harder to conquer than it seems. Today is all about being aware that our emotions do affect our eating, and finding different ways to channel our emotions other than food.

So what are some things to do instead of eating thru our emotions?

- Exercise! Even just moving around a little tends to make us feel better and if we are bored, keeps our mind off of food.

- Drink water.

- Find a fun hobby. Could be things like sewing, roller derby, gardening, etc.

So what can you do to help stop emotional over-eating?

Scoop the Poop Day

This day is just what it sounds like! It is the day to go outside, and scoop your animals poop. For most of us that means your dogs, but for some it could be cows, horses, or other animals. Cat owners get to do this at least once a week.

When I was a kid I, like many others, could not stand to clean up the poop from the backyard. What would happen is right before my parents went to mow the grass, they would have me and brother go outside and "scoop the poop" along with picking up any other random toys or objects that could get in the way of the mower. Now that I am older it isn't as big a deal to pick up poop. . . but maybe thats because I work at a pet store and pick up poop at least 5 times every day? Who knows?

Whatever the case might be, if you have an animial, today is the day to scoop the poop and make your backyard a more pleasant place to walk!

National Kids & Pets Day

Today is the day to educate kids about their pets! Kids are always very curious about animals and usually want to own some type of pet. Today is about teaching them how to take good care of their pet, and learn how to interact and communicate with their pet.

Pets come in all different shapes and sizes. They could have a dog, cat, reptile, bird, fish, hamster, guinea pig, sugar glider, rabbit, along with many other household pet. With each animal comes a different type of responsibility. Growing up my first family pet was a dog. I was about 4 or 5 when we got Maggie. She was some type of mix that we got from the pound. She was very affectionate, but I had to learn very quickly that I some times played too rough. Dogs are not made to ride on their backs like horses. I also got to help with feeding and taking her outside to use the bathroom. Along with Maggie we also had a fish tank. It wasn't until I got older that I learned how much hard work goes into a tank. When I was a kid, I thought it was just about turning the light on and off and making sure that they got fed. Now that I'm older I know that they also need frequent water changes and to make sure that the temperature is in the correct range.

Pets can be a lot of fun. We want to make sure that both the pet and the kid stay safe when interacting together. So take the time today to teach a kid how to play with/ interact/ care for their pet!

World Veterinarian Day

It is World Veterinarian Day! A day to celebrate and appreciate the doctors who help to keep our animals as healthy as possible.

I have been going to my vet for about 5 years now. She is a traveling vet and myself along with my dogs love her! I first went to her for a second opinion when I found out that Reese had to have surgery on his knees. She told me that he did need to have surgery and explained exactly what he had and what needed to be done to fix it. She then recommended me to a specialist. I have stayed with her ever since. A few years ago Blossom had a issue where she had diarrhea for a few days. When I called my vet she gave me a lot of things to try at home before I had to pay to have her come to my house. I was bummed when she came for Blossoms annual checkup yesterday and found out that she is moving her practice 300 miles away. The only bright side to that is that Blossom is in tip top shape!

I work at a pet store, so I hear a lot of positive and negative things about every vet in town. For me the most important thing is finding a vet that I feel comfortable with. We are all human, we don't "click" with everyone. For me I want a vet that I can trust and my dogs are comfortable with. It will be hard to switch to another vet, but I am confident that I will find one that will take care of my puppies so they live long, happy lives!

National Hairball Awareness Day

When I think of a hairball I think of cats. They seem to be the most common animal to get hairballs because of their ability to lick themselves to stay clean. Although not having to bathe a cat as often as dogs is great, it also means that you will have to pick up hairballs more often than not. Essentially a hairball is a mass of hair that gets thrown up because it is hard to digest. So lets learn more about these nasty hairballs:

- Longer haired cats tend to get more hairballs because they have more hair that they can ingest.

- Hairballs are seasonal. They tend to get worse in the spring because they are losing their winter coat.

- Hairballs are not as common as we think. Most cats only get 1 to 2 hairballs a year. If they are getting more than that it is recommended to check with a vet and make sure it is not something worse.

- Hairballs are not just something that cats get. There have been cows, rabbits, dogs, and even humans that have gotten hairballs. Some of them though, (Like rabbits) can prove to be deadly because their stomachs were not made to throw up the hair. Thus killing the rabbit from hair.

- If a hairball gets too big it might have to be surgically removed. . . ouch!

So there is your facts about hairballs. Now you are aware!

Silence Day (Doctor Who)

Silence will fall when the question is asked. Thats right - it's another Doctor Who holiday! So lets explain this holiday for those who have no idea why people are walking around with hash marks all over their body.

The Silence is an alien that you forget about the minute you look away from them. They have been around for thousand of years, and have helped to control what humans do. They do this by putting ideas into their head, and when they look away from them they feel compelled to do them. Almost like being hypnotized, but by an alien you never remember. They are big creatures wearing a suit, and can zap people into dust. The first episode that they were introduced was "The Impossible Astronaut". What happens is the Doctor and his Companions figure out that their is something, or someone, that they can never remember seeing. So when they see the Silence they put a hash mark on their body. Eventually they look in the mirror and see hundreds of hash marks on them, and realize that they have seen hundreds of silence and didn't even know it.

Thankfully (as far as we know) there are no Silence walking around. So have fun, and look weird with hash marks all over your face!

Earth Day

Today is Earth Day! When I was younger that meant that my girl scout troop would go to some big gathering where we would get our face painted and play lots of fun games. What this holiday is actually celebrating though is our Earth and all the things that we can do to help preserve the wonderful things that we have because of it.

So what can we do to help the earth you might ask? Here are a few ideas:

- Recycle! Bottles, jars, paper - most of it can be reused or made into something else!

- If you can walk or bike instead of driving then do it! It saves not only oil but also our air.

- Don't litter. Throw your cigarette or gum wrapper in the garbage instead of on the ground.

- Take shorter showers.

- Use a refillable water bottle instead of plastic ones.

So lets see what we can do to help keep our earth beautiful!

National Peeps Day

So I would think that this day would be before Easter, but I guess that I am wrong! Happy Peeps day! For those of you that like peeps (not me!), see if you can still find some peeps in the stores!

Lets learn some fun facts about our marshmellow friend:

- Peeps have a 2 year shelf life. So feel free to indulge in those peeps from last Easter!

- Peeps are the #1 non chocolate candy sold on Easter every year.

- American's alone consumer 600 million peeps on Easter each year.

- When peeps were first created in 1953 it would take 27 hours to make a peep. Today it only takes 6 minutes.

- Peeps were first made with wings, but the wings were clipped after only two years to make the peep more modern and sleek.

- Although the most common peeps are chicks and bunnies around Easter, they are now being created for other holidays such as Valentines Day, Halloween, and Christmas.

So if you like peeps, go enjoy some! If not, get your dog a chew toy that looks like a peep and let him have it!

Look Alike Day

When I was in high school we use to call this twinkie day. It is the day were you and someone else dress up to look the same. You wear your hair the same, your clothes the same, makeup, everything.

Every year, about two or three times a year, my school would throw Trojan Pride week at us. Our school mascot was the Trojans and then pride week was always right before a "big" game or a dance (such as homecoming). I honestly couldn't stand the entire week. Everyday was a different day. They had Food Court day, in which different groups at the school would get food that we could purchase instead. Which was fine other than we had to spend 4$ for 3 breadsticks from pizza hut since all the normal cafeteria food was closed for the day. Then they would blast music so that we couldn't hear the person sitting next to us. They also had mix and match day which consisted of people dressing in the most tackest things that they could find. The last day they would have a pep rally in which they would force all 2,500 of us in the school into the gym in which we couldn't hear anything because the speaker system was horrible (and the band was forced to sit up in the balcony, where you can't hear anything). As you can tell, I couldn't stand pride week. The only somewhat enjoyable part was twinkie day. I never actually participated, but I loved looking at some of the other people dress up in the same get-up. I think the best was when I had a class with twin sisters and they dressed identical and the teacher had a hard time telling them apart!

So dress the same as someone else today. It be your friend or your sibling, but make it fun!

National Bike Day

What a great excuse to ride your bike! I wish that I wasn't at work all day because I would love to pull out my helmet and bike and ride around the neighborhood!

My family has always enjoyed biking. I remember going for long bike rides as a kid. We would ride down to the local park and back, or to the state park. One time we took our bikes and were driving about 45 minutes away to another park to bike when our bike rack broke. My mom drove the car back while myself along with my dad and brother rode our bikes back home almost 20 miles. Which when your 13 and 11 that was a pretty long distance for us! I also have cousins who work for a bike shop. They know how to sell bikes along with how to fix them and keep them looking and working nice.

So fill up those tires, put on a helmet, hop on your bike and go enjoy this beautiful day!

National Wear Your Pajamas to Work Day

Too bad most of us can't actually wear our pajamas to work today - but if you can then go for it!

I remember when I was in school there was at least one day of the year that was dedicated to wearing your pajamas. It was always fun to see what kind of pajamas everyone decided to wear - including the teachers. The teachers would often come to school in the tackiest, most outrageous pair of pajamas they could find. I had a teacher who came to school in footy pajamas that had the moon and Zzzz's all over it. He then had to put his shoes over the footy's because we still had to wear shoes (not slippers or just socks!).

I always wore something that had to do with Cookie Monster. Others wore pajamas with other famous characters on them, and some people wore some that were plain or had designs on them. It was a great day for us to all be goofy and not worry about one kid looking more fashionable than the other.

So have a great day, and if you can get away with wearing your pajamas to work then do it!

Haiku Day

Haiku is a Japanese form of poetry. A haiku is very short and it is all about the syllables. The first line has 5 syllables, the second line has 7, and the last line has 5 syllables.

Poetry was never my favorite thing in school. When we were forced to write it I would usually just suffer through it, but I never truly understood it. In third grade we had to make a poetry book. I look back at mine and can tell that I did not understand poetry what so ever. I thought that it was all about rhymes and boring topics. It wasn't until my college creative writing class that it wasn't as horrible to write poetry. It still is my least favorite topic in English, but my teacher taught that poetry is not suppose to be all about rhymes and boring topics. It is about expressing your emotions and feelings through writing. Almost like writing song lyrics. They tell a story, but it flows in a different way than just writing a short story.

Happy Haiku Day!

National High Five Day

High Five! It's National High Five Day!

Reese and Blossom can both high five! Reese does it better than Blossom, but they will both high five (expecially if you have food!).

I had a speech class when I was in high school. For one of the speeches we got paired up with another person and we had to go out and do something that was out of most peoples social norms. For example we had one group that went to a mall and would be having an argument on the phone and would sit right next to people on the benches, even if there was an empty bench close by. There was another group that would shake peoples hands, but wouldn't let go until the other person did. For us we went for a walk and would high five anyone who walked past us. What we found is that it was extremely awkward. We did have fun though.

So go high five a friend, or be brave and high five a complete stranger!

Banana Day

I love bananas! One of my favorite fruits! You can eat bananas by themselves, with other fruit/veggies or made into something. There is even a machine that makes frozen bananas into an Ice Cream texture!

One of the great things about bananas is that they taste different depending on their color. Everyone seems to like them at different levels. Some like banana when they are green while others like them when they are yellow. I like mine when they start to get big brown splotches on them. If I eat them when they are green or yellow they just taste like wax to me. I haven't met too many people who like their bananas when they are ripe enough for me. Which is fine. I have many people who give me their bananas when they won't eat them anymore, and usually I still have to wait a few days before I will eat them!

So how do you like your bananas?

National Library Day

Who doesn't love their local library? They have computers that you can use, dvd's to rent, but most importantly they have books! Lots and lots of books! You can find books for any age and for almost any topic. You can find fictional books, how-to books, educational books, kids books, along with many others!

I got my first library card in 2nd grade. The card I currently have is actually that same card. I know this because when I look on the back there is Er written and then Erin written in cursive next to it because my mom told me I had to sign my name in cursive for it to count.  Since then I have been able to go to the library not only to help with school work, but to read books for my own enjoyment. When I was in high school I would go to the library at least once a week for a book club that we had there, and every now and then we would have what was called "Arts After Dark". Arts After Dark was a program for high schoolers where they could come and show off their talents. It could be a poem or story, playing the piano, amongst other things. I also went to our local library the night that the 7th Harry Potter book was going to be released. That was a blast. We had people dressed up as wizards and witches. Some of the organizers would come around and take our photo and throughout the night they would post the photo on a "Wanted for Treason" poster. Then anyone could come and get us and take us to "Azkaban" (a little room in the library). Their reward for finding and bringing them to jail was a chance to win a free copy of the book at midnight. I didn't win, but I did have a lot of fun.

The biggest thing about the library that I learned as a kid, is that it's more than just books. Its about learning and having fun at the same time! So make sure if you don't have a library card to get one, and if you do, go check out your local library!

World Youth Day

Our youth, like us, are always changing. My generation of youth is nothing like the current generation of youth or my parents generation of youth. Today is all about celebrating our youth and and to help guide them in a direction that will benefit all of us as they grow into adulthood.

I was into strange things when I was a kid. My generation was at the early stages of our technology era. We were into computer games, gameboys, Spice Girls, Backstreet Boys, Pokemon, and ripped jeans. I have heard the phrase "Back when I was a kid we didn't have/didn't need (insert word)" many times. Even though it hasn't been a long time since I was considered a youth, the current youth has changed so much. They seem even more into video games, cellphones, One Direction, and challenges (such as the ice bucket challenge). Sure, it is different than any youth before, but all of our generations have been different than the ones before it. It is time to celebrate our youth and help them choose their path in life.

Stay young!

National Grilled Cheese Day

Other than Nov 2nd, this is probably my favorite holiday of the year! National Grilled Cheese Day! Grilled Cheese is the best sandwich (in my opinion). You can have it by itself or with soup. Some people even put a tomato on it!

I was in girl scouts for 12 years. Throughout that time we went on trips quite a bit. The one thing that I learned from that is that we were horrible cooks. We would take turns cooking each meal. If we didn't cook our current meal we would be cooking our next meal. 9 times out of 10, whatever we were making would come out burnt or over cook. That included Grilled Cheese. I remember looking at my black, smouldering, sandwich thinking "Why wasn't I on this meal? I'm a pro at cooking the perfect grilled cheese!". It was that meal that cause me to eat this delicious sandwich the way I do. As I've mentioned before, I eat most food in a funny way. So when we are eating and someone says "Don't show Erin that!" of course I want to know what it is. It ended up being one of the moms slathering her burnt grilled cheese with grape jelly. So of course I tried it. . . and it made the burnt sandwich so much BETTER! I think that it was the only way to eat those sandwiches. I still eat grilled cheese with grape jelly from time to time. I even add ketchup to it too. Once again, I have weird taste buds. . . .

Hopefully you don't have to eat burnt grilled cheese, but either way, enjoy this wonderful sandwich!

Barbershop Quartet Day

You don't see too many Barbershop Quartets around anymore, but today is the day to celebrate and appreciate them! Barbershop Quartets usually consist of 4 people who sing songs a capella (with no musical instruments other than their voice). They are usually catchy tunes that others can sing along to. It got the name "barbershop" quartet because it originally started by barbers who would start singing while they were working on their clients. This genera of music was at it's highest point in the 1930's and 1940's.

I remember as a kid going with my dad when he would go and get his hair cut. We would go into a little barbershop that was known for having the worlds tallest barber pole (although I don't think that they hold that record anymore). They only had three guys working, so it would have been hard for them to actually form a quartet (that plus I never heard them sing). I do remember though that the guy that always cut my hair always joked around saying that since I was in the shop, he was going to give me a buzz cut like my dad. . . . I was very glad that he never did that!

So take some time today to either sing some Barbershop songs with friends or watch a barbershop quartet.

Have fun!

Safety Pin Day

The Safety Pin! We use it for many things. Where would we be without it? Well it hasn't been around too long. It was patented in 1948 by a man named Walter Hunt who sold the rights for $400 to pay off a $15 debt!

The main time that I use safety pins tend to be when I am quilting. It actually comes in handing so that you can pin the whole thing down before machine quilting on the top. Using safety pins keeps the back, backing, and top of the quilt in place so that it doesn't get messed up for quilting.

You can use it for many other things though too:

- Use as a button (such as if your pants button breaks)

- Pin clothes (such as if they have holes)

- Jewelry (Necklace, braclet, etc)

- Guitar Pick

- Lock Pick

Be creative, and see what you can do with a safety pin!

Cherish an Antique Day

Okay, so my Cookie Monster might not actually be considered an Antique! But it is one of the oldest things that I own, and as you can tell by the missing fur, he has been "loved" for a long time!

I got this Cookie Monster when I was about 1 in a half at Christmas. I guess that I was opening presents and when I opened the one with Cookie Monster and I screamed bloody murder. My parents, shocked, turned around to find me hugging Cookie Monster. It was love at first sight. I have liked Cookie Monster ever since. In high school I even painted my room with Cookie Monster on the walls and over 478 chocolate chip cookies painted on the ceiling. I now have a giant collection of Cookie Monsters ranging from a little one from a cereal box to a life size Cookie Monster puppet. I also have pez dispenser (normal and huge), cups, backpacks, trucks, towels, and even dog toys (as you have seen in a few of the pictures!).

So no matter what your antique is, make sure that you cherish it. Even if it is just pulling it out to look at it and admire it's beauty and/or it's meaning to you!

Draw a Picture of a Bird Day

Who cares if you don't have the best drawing skills! Think of a bird and draw it!

My grandma is the person who taught me how to draw my first bird. All you have to do is write a giant cursive S on a sheet of paper (or in our case, we drew them on a little chalk board that was at my grandparents house). You then add a beak, feet, and an eye. You can also add some color if you wish.  Then you have a duck! And do you know what a duck is? A bird! So you just drew a picture of a bird! (Woot woot!)

Now for those with artistic capabilities, feel free to draw a nicer looking bird.

Have fun, and enjoy your bird drawing!

No Housework Day

How often do you think "I should really go home and clean those dishes?" or "I need to go home and clean my house". Well today is the best excuse not to do that because it is No Housework Day!

I grew up with two younger siblings. Our house rarely looked as if there was no kids living in it. There would be toys scattered on the ground, Pokemon cards on the table, arts and crafts stuff in varies locations around the house. Between my two parents, one was a neat freak (although they deny this claim) while the other one had more laid back perspective on cleaning. I remember a lot of the arguments that I had with my dad was about cleaning. Cleaning my room, putting the dishes away, picking up dog poop. . . you catch my drift. Now that I live in my own house, I am still not a neat freak in any way, but I do clean a whole lot more than I use to. Today though, will be my day not to clean at all! (It helps that I will be at work all day!)

So enjoy this day off from doing housework!

Jump Over Things Day

Are you late for work and you see a pair of dirty socks on the ground? Do you pick them up? NO! Jump over them! Are you in a race and there is a big puddle of mud in front of you? Do you plow through it? NO! You jump over them! Today is all about the joy of jumping over stuff!

Blossom is the pro between my two with jumping over stuff. Sure, Reeses can jump, but he really shouldn't. Reese had surgery on his knees a few years back, so it really isn't the best to get him jumping a lot. Blossom on the other hand went through agility training as a puppy. I don't know who had more fun, her or I. We learned how to do the weave polls, the A frame, go across a long narrow plank above the ground, and of course - jump over poles! Blossom was pretty good at it -better than I was anyways. Even though I wasn't jumping over the obstacles, we still had to run with our dog so that we could direct them in which obstacle to go to next. It is much more difficult than what the professionals make it seem like on tv!

So make it fun, and jump over things!

Easter

It is Easter. A Christian holiday, celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ. So why do we celebrate with the Easter Bunny and Eggs? Lets find out:

- It is said that Christians would give eggs to each other on Easter as a celebration of new life. We now a days use chicken eggs, but the first eggs given where robins eggs. People would dye them different colors so that it seemed more like a gift.

- From the pagans, Rabbits and eggs are both symbols of the fertility goddess Eostre. Her symbol is also the moon, in which some cultures see a rabbit instead of a face. There is a legend about the goddess Eostre, in which she came upon a dying bird. To save its life, she turned it into a rabbit. It lived but continued to lay eggs. In gratitude for its life, the rabbit gives her some of the eggs every year.

- We search for eggs not only because it is fun, but because it represents the search for new life.

So have wonderful Easter everyone!

Pillowfight Day

Get the feathers flying and hit each other with pillows! It's Pillowfight Day!

I never really had too many pillow fights when I was a kid. My brother and I were not allowed to have pillow fights because it would escalate very quickly to using objects that were heavier than pillows. When I would have slumber party's with my friends or my girl scout troop, the parents that were "hosting" the party either wouldn't have enough pillows, or didn't want us to break anything in their house.

My mom was telling me about how when she was a kid, they would have modified version of pillow fights. They would take rolled up socks and chuck them at each other. Her brother (Bob) would be at the top of the steps and my mom and one of her sisters (Tricia) would be at the bottom. Bob would chuck the socks at them down the stairs, while Tricia was throwing them up the stairs at Bob, and my mom would get pelted in the crossfire, trying to collect the socks for her and Tricia. It does sound like a lot of fun, and less painful than paintball!

So have fun, and throw a pillow!

Fish Fingers and Custard Day

Yes, it is a Doctor Who holiday! For those who don't watch Doctor Who, it is about a Time Lord who travels throughout time and space in his "ship" named the TARDIS. He is able to regenerate, which means that when he should die, he instead transforms into a different looking person with slightly different personalities and tastes. When the Doctor transforms into the 11th doctor, he is trying to find food that he likes. He doesn't like apples, or eggs. He does find that he likes fish fingers with custard! Thus this holiday!

To most people they look at fish fingers and custard and think "ew". I actually didn't mind them together. I have a weird sense of taste though. I am the one who likes grilled cheese with ketchup and grape jelly. Or mashed potatoes with honey. In high school I use to bring a can of SpegghettiOs and eat them cold with ranch Doritos's mixed in it. The running joke is that maybe someday when I am going to have a kid I will eat like a normal person!

So try some new food combinations that you might not have thought of!

National Peanut Butter and Jelly Day

Other than Grilled cheese, this would have to be one of my favorite sandwiches! It brings me back to elementary school when my mom would make be a PB&J sandwich for lunch. After I ate the sandwich I would then proceed to blow up my brown paper lunch bag and pop it (in which I stopped after the principle freaked out over it [yet she never figured out that it was me. . .]).

I still enjoy a PB&J sandwich today.

I remember in high school I took a foods class. There was actually a debate in the class about the "proper" way to make a PB&J sandwich. Some where arguing that you put the peanut butter on one slice of bread, and the jelly on another. Others were saying that you slather one slice of bread in peanut butter and then cover the peanut butter in jelly. It didn't matter either way to me, they both tasted good (and the same).

So no matter how you like to make your PB&J, make sure you indulge in one today!

April Fools Day

Not going to lie. This is my least favorite holiday. I have a hard time being able to tell when people are joking or being sarcastic, so I am fooled quite a bit by April Fools Day.

When I was in elementary school, April Fools day was all about lame jokes that didn't make sense most of the time. In middle school and high school they started to get more elaborate. We had a girl in middle school who came to school with her leg in a cast, a black eye, her arm in a sling, and in a wheel chair. She had told everyone that she got into a car accident during the weekend. It was so realistic that we didn't know that it was fake until the end of the day when she told us. The only people who knew where the teachers, and her parents (one of which was a doctor and knew how to put a cast on). We had other people who wrapped their friends car in plastic wrap, or filled the janitors closet with balloons.

Whatever prank you choose to do, please make sure that it isn't something that could hurt others (both physically or emotionally!)
